Lithse Ham beaches
Swimming, making a campfire and spending the night in nature
Moor and enjoy
The beaches in the Bommelerwaard are a lovely place to moor the log cabin boat. If you lie near some trees you will benefit from the shade. If you moor with the front of the log cabin boat toward the wind near some trees and tall bushes, you will be nicely protected from the wind.
The most beautiful beaches in the Bommelerwaard can be found in the Lithse Ham. This recreational area has several sand holes and is brimming with natural beauty. The Lithse Ham is a 15-minute sail from boarding location Heerewaarden. This is a great place to disembark for a barbecue or to gather wood and build a campfire. The beaches are perfect for a quick swim, you can easily walk into the water. Small children can enjoy playing with sand.
You will find various animals such as kingfishers and beavers here, and Scottish highlanders roam freely on the banks. By canoe or SUP, paddle up past the beaver lodge. Do so at dawn or dusk, when you are most likely to see a beaver.
If you like fishing, you are also allowed to fish in the Lithse Ham with a permit, and the many inlets ensure you have many great fishing spots. Perch, zander and pike are common, but you also have a chance of catching a catfish.
