Far away from the hustle and bustle, in the middle of the Lingeland landscape, they sometimes suddenly pop up in front of you: the forts of the Dutch WaterlinesTogether, they tell you an archetypal Dutch story of defence with water as an ally. the Fort near Asperen, idyllically situated on the river Linge, is one of the most beautiful tower forts of the Dutch Waterlines. The 1840s fort is made of heavy masonry: the outer walls are 1.5 metres thick and the fort has a diameter of 33 metres.

These days, you are welcome for lunch, drinks or dinner in the engineer depot or on the terrace. If you want to know all about this fortress, let one of the volunteers show you around and listen to their fascinating stories.

GeoFort
From the mooring on the Linge, it is about a kilometre walk to GeoFort.

This exciting fort island has been transformed into an educational and interactive fort where everything revolves around the future of the earth. The themes of climate, energy and water take centre stage. Descend deep into the earth by lift, get lost in the climate maze or build the tallest tower that can withstand an earthquake. Doing it yourself is paramount here!

During GeoFort opening hours, the WereldPan is also open, a restaurant serving the tastiest pancakes and other lunch dishes.
